Sometimes, AC repair just isn’t worth it. If your system is showing these signs, it’s time to consider AC replacement in Houston:
Ductless systems can develop airflow, refrigerant, electrical, sensor, and drainage issues. Luke’s can troubleshoot ductless mini-split problems and help restore efficient room-by-room cooling.
Central AC systems are common in Houston homes and can experience refrigerant leaks, clogged filters, thermostat problems, frozen coils, electrical failures, and poor airflow. Our technicians diagnose the issue and recommend the right repair.
Zoned systems rely on thermostats, dampers, sensors, and ductwork to control comfort in different areas of your home. We can troubleshoot uneven cooling, airflow restrictions, sensor failures, and zone control problems.

The average cost for air conditioning repair in Houston varies depending on the issue. Look for a Houston AC repair company with proper licensing, insurance, and strong online reviews. Verify they have experience with your specific AC type and offer emergency services crucial for Houston’s climate. Luke’s Plumbing & Air Conditioning meets all these criteria with NATE-certified technicians who undergo continuous training. While changing filters and cleaning around the outdoor unit are DIY-friendly, most AC repairs require professional expertise. DIY repairs risk personal injury, system damage, refrigerant mishandling (which is regulated), electrical hazards, and voiding warranties. Houston’s extreme heat makes proper AC function critical, so it’s best to call Luke’s Plumbing & Air Conditioning for Houston AC repair. Our skilled technicians have the training, tools, and expertise to safely diagnose and fix your system without causing additional problems.
Several issues could cause your AC to blow warm air: refrigerant leaks, dirty air filters restricting airflow, thermostat problems, compressor failures, or frozen evaporator coils. Houston’s intense heat puts extra strain on AC systems, making these problems more common here than in milder climates. Our Houston AC repair technicians can quickly diagnose the specific cause and implement the right solution to restore cool air to your home, often on the same day you call.
If your AC runs but doesn’t cool, the problem could be a refrigerant leak, dirty condenser coil, clogged filter, or thermostat issue. In Houston’s heat and humidity, these problems are common. Our expert techs can diagnose the cause and restore cool air fast, often on the same visit.
Short cycling is typically caused by an oversized unit, dirty air filters, low refrigerant levels, electrical problems, or a malfunctioning thermostat. This issue is particularly common in Houston due to our extreme heat putting extra strain on cooling systems. Short cycling reduces efficiency, increases wear on components, and shortens system lifespan. Luke’s Plumbing & Air Conditioning can diagnose and fix the root cause of your system’s short cycling, helping you save on energy bills and prevent premature system failure.
Warning signs include reduced cooling performance, unusual noises (grinding, squealing, or rattling), frequent cycling, increased energy bills, age over 10-15 years, and repeated repairs. These symptoms are particularly concerning in Houston’s climate, where system failure during peak summer can create uncomfortable and potentially dangerous conditions. If you notice these warning signs, contact Luke’s Plumbing & Air Conditioning promptly for professional Houston AC repair to address problems before complete system failure occurs.
If your AC system is less than 10 years old and the repair is minor, repair may be the most cost-effective option. If your system is 12–15 years old, needs frequent repairs, struggles to cool your home, or causes high energy bills, replacement may be worth considering. Luke’s can inspect your system and help you compare repair and replacement options.
Yes. We offer flexible financing options through Synchrony to help Houston homeowners manage unexpected repair or replacement costs. Ask us about our easy monthly payment plans when you schedule your service.
Our licensed HVAC technicians repair all major brands, including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, York, Daikin, and American Standard. Whether you have a central AC, heat pump, or ductless mini-split, we have the tools and expertise to fix it.
Absolutely. Our team handles central air conditioning repair, ductless mini-split systems, and zoned HVAC systems. We can also troubleshoot airflow problems, thermostat malfunctions, and refrigerant issues unique to each type of system.
Preventive maintenance is key. Schedule annual AC tune-ups, replace air filters regularly, and keep the outdoor unit clear of debris. Our AC Maintenance services help prevent breakdowns and extend your system’s lifespan, especially important in Houston’s long cooling season.
